Set in a charming townhouse with fabric billowing from the ceilings, one finds fresh cut flowers and soft tapered candlelight. The crimson walls are covered with autographed silent and contemporary film stars, and a large collection of unique and interesting art. Many artifacts decorate the tables and surfaces of the restaurant. The overall feel suggests a drawing room in Paris in the 1920s, complete with art and artists. A romantic atmosphere with many private alcoves that creates an intimate and personal experience.

The Astral Plane is all things to all people. It is a theatrical arena where our guests are the lead actors and we play the character roles. Our clientele is diverse, multi cultural, and from all walks of life. We prefer to remain a medium priced restaurant to make it possible for all people to come and enjoy our dining experience.
We pride ourselves primarily on our food. Our Executive Chef, Rodolfo Ramirez is originally from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. He has been an integral part of the Astral Plane family for 18 years. He has been preparing absolutely delicious food for us for all that time and it is said that he cooks fish and meat to sheer perfection. He is highly admired and respected throughout Philadelphia for his many wonderful cooking skills. Rudy runs the Astral kitchen with Thomas Boyer, our Creative Chef, who prepares delicious soups and fabulous sauces that make the food so very good. You can also see Tom's paintings throughout the restaurant, he is a fine artist and he brings that same sense of artistic detail he gives his paintings to the food at Astral. They cook with only the very best and freshest ingredients. They buy local foods at the peak of their ripeness and lovingly turn them into the most delicious creations that you have ever tasted.
"Rosie's Cafe" is our outdoor sidewalk cafe and we invite you to bring your doggy or kitty companion to join you.
