Welcome! This is my online portfolio, and if you didn't know by looking at the big letters at the top of this page, my name is Mario Maiale (pronounced: my-alley).
Here you will see many of the art projects that I have immersed myself in over the year, whether it is digital or not. I'm an alumnus of LaSalle University, where I graduated with a degree in Digital Arts and Multimedia Design in 2007.
I began my interest in art at a very young age, but didn't discover the joy of digital art until I started using a PC, only at that time I had the Paint program, but I guess beggars can't be choosers. Once I hit college, I was introduced to Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, InDesign, and the Wacom Tablet. That's when the creative juices really started to flow.
Using the tablet during my senior year, I began to rediscover my love of drawing, which had lost during my sophomore year of high school. Between the periods of sophomore year of high school and senior year of college, I did maybe three drawings, none of which were really anything special. But for some reason, using the Wacom Tablet, and taking a few art classes, really opened the door for me. Since then, everything is done in record time, my web site is constantly being updated, and the drawings are constantly improving to the point where I feel like I've been drawing for years. You know, as opposed to, "Hey, I took a break for a few years, and now I'm back to trying it again."
I'd like to be considered as a jack of all trades, as I'm skilled in digital imaging, illustrations, web design, and animation. I'm aspiring to gain admission into Drexel University's Graduate program in Digital Media to further hone my craft.
One of my dreams is to work in the video game design field, as I have always been a fan of video games since I was a young boy. It may have subconsciously led to me being a digital artist. Then again, I'm not a psychiatrist. Although in regards to my subconscious in art, I've been meaning to ask one about that.
If you have been reading this page from top to bottom like most people do, you will see a navigation bar which contains links to all of my art, and each is divided into it's own category.
Best Wishes,
Mario
